Narrative of journeys made in 1887-89. The author has not much that is new to tell. On one of his journeys he accompanied Sir W. Kirby Green, H.M. Minister to the court of the Sultan at Morocco city. See Sat. Rev., 3rd May, 1890, p. 542 ; and Athenæum, where some inaccuracies are pointed out.



Né à Londres en 1860, W.B. Harris était au Maroc en 1887.
Il accompagna l'ambassade à Marrakech de Sir W. Kirby Green et envoya des relations à l'Illustrated London News. Il fut le correspondant du Times au Maroc pendant près de 40 ans. Parlant l'arabe il fut fort bien introduit dans tous les milieux musulmans, disposant de nombreuses relations à Londres où son frère fut membre de la Chambre des Communes, jouant un jeu politique personnel complexe, tour à tour agent de la G-B, de l'Allemagne, du Sultan, de la France, il fut un des meilleurs connaisseurs des affaires marocaines dans lesquelles il joua un rôle non négligeable.
A flamboyant socialite, accomplished traveller, diligent journalist (who served as special correspondent to Morocco for The Times for forty years), triumphant name-dropper and raconteur (1866[-]1933). He was a friend to kings and a man capable of befriending his kidnapper (Raisouli of the Western Rif). For all his occasional whimsy few writers can equal his experience and affection for Morocco. His tomb can be seen in the Anglican cemetery in Tangier.
