1890. Lane-Pool, Stanley, with Additions by Lieut. J. D. J. Kelley, U.S. Navy. – The Barbary Corsairs. London: 8vo, pp. 316, with numerous illustrations.
The author says: « The kingdom of Morocco is not strictly [ ?] a Barbary state, and its history does not belong to this volume. Nevertheless… a few words will not be out of place. »
Still one of the best summaries, as one might expect from a professor of Arabic (1854[-]1931) who was also the son of a professor of Arabic and the great-nephew of Edward Lane, author of The Manners and Customs of the Modern Egyptians.
