Sefer Shem Olam including all the plots against our brethren in Morocco in 1863, with the steaming cup which they were served by the cruel emissaries from Spain, and the cup of salvation served to them by Moshe Montefiore, by Asher Amsheiwitz, Warsaw, 1864. Rare only edition.

Background: In 1863, a blood libel was planned against the Jews in Morocco following the murder of a Spanish clerk in Safi, Morroco, Moshe Montefiore set out for Morocco to meet with Sultan Muhammad IV to demand the release of the victims of the libel, and to demand the equality of Jewish citizens with other residents of Morocco. Following their meeting, the Sultan declared that he promises the Jews justice and equality.

The book was published under the direction of Rabbi Nathan Adler, rabbi of London, and with the assistance of the Shlichei Kehillot Yisrael society. Printed in Moshe Montefiore's lifetime.
