Selim D'Ehrenhoff (1822-1890)
Biography
Swedish diplomat whose antiquities collection was sold at Sotheby's in 1893.

Born in Stockholm of a noble family, he served as Swedish Vice-Consul in Tangier under his father Count Johan D'Ehrenhoff between 1851 and 1853 and was made acting head of the consulate on his father's death. Confirmed as Consul General in 1856, he remained in Morocco until 1869 when he was promoted to the position of Minister and then Minister Plenipotentiary to the Ottoman Empire, retiring in 1887. Married to Elisabeth Reade (1841- 1878), daughter of Sir Thomas Reade (q.v.) (British Consul General in Tunis) and Lady Augusta Glogg, sometime before 1864 when their first child was born. He was a Knight of the Order of Vasa. Both were buried in the Haydarpaşa cemetery in Istanbul.
