Issue of the Moroccan newspaper "Le Journal de Tanger" with the headline "Victoire" dated May 8, 1945 (Allied victory over Nazi Germany). The cover features, among other things, photos of Soviet President Joseph Stalin and British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, photos of senior military officers in the Allied armies, and more. 4 pages, 60 cm. In good condition: brown paper, slightly fragile, slight tears in the edges, scorching along the fold marks, creases. The main editorial on the front page begins with the word "Hosnna!" - the equivalent of the Hebrew word "Hoshana". Tangier was part of the International Zone of Tangier, founded in 1923 and jointly administered by several countries. On June 14, 1940, Spain took advantage of the fall of France to take control of the city, thus abolishing the international institutions that existed there. The occupation lasted until October 11, 1945, when the city was restored to its previous international status. During the 1940s, Le Journal de Tanger was published on a weekly basis. The newspaper continued to report on local and international events under the supervision or censorship of the Spanish government. However, here we have one of the uncensored issues that was published freely at the end of the war.
